적당한 지지체에 감응 물질을 고정시켜서 페놀 정량을 위한 감응부로 사용하였고, 광섬유, 디지털 표시와 one-chip 마이크로컴퓨터가 내장된 휴대용 페놀 감지 시스템을 제작하였다. 광섬유를 사용하는 자외-가시선 분광광도계 및 본 연구에서 제작한 휴대용 감지 시스템을 사용해서 페놀 감응을 위한 최적 분석 조건을 연구하였다. 감응물질과 지지체의 종류 및 사용량, 용액의 pH, 반응시간 등을 변화시켜서 실험 조건을 최적화하였다. 최적 분석 파장은 612nm이고, 최적 pH는 9.2였다. 검량선은 1×10-2M부터 5×10-4M의 범위와 5×10-4M and 1×10-5M 농도 범위에서 서로 다른 기울기를 가지면서 직선성을 보였다. 검출한계는 1×10-6M이였다.

The phenol-sensing probe in aqueous solution was made of suitable supports containing the reagent. The portable phenol-sensing system was developed with an optical fiber, digital display, and one-chip microcomputer. The optimum analytical conditions for phenols were studied in various experimental conditions using a conventional UV-Vis. spectrometer with an optical fiber and the phenol-sensing system devised in the present study. We optimized the experimental conditions controlling the several parameters, such as the change of the reagent, the type and quantity of supports, the pH of medium, and the reaction time. The optimum analytical wavelength was 612 nm and pH was 9.2. The calibration plots had two slopes depending on the analyte concentration. One was the concentration between 1×10-2M and 5×10-4M and the other was between 5×10-4M and 1×10-5M. The detection limit was 1×10-6M.
