Water Chemistry and Age Dating of Thermal Spring in Chullabukdo Region

전라북도 온천수의 수질 화학적 특성과 연대 측정

전라북도 내에 최근 새로이 개발된 온천수와 그곳 지하수의 수질 화학적 특성과 연대(나이)에 관하여 연구하였다. 수질 화학적 특성 중 온도는 27∼29℃의 미온천이며, F- 이온은 평균 2∼13 ppm으로 매우 높게 나타났고, NO3- 이온은 거의 검출되지 않았다. SO42-는 0.02∼23 ppm이었으나 이중 유황천으로 알려진 Y3의 SO42- 함량은 다른 지역보다 최소 2배에서 최대 40배 이상 높게 나타났으며, HCO3- 이온은 지하수보다 온천수에 최소 2배에서 최대 5배 이상 높게 나타났다. Diagram에 의한 분류에서 Y1, Y3, Y5, Y2, Y4, Y8은 HCO3-형, Y6는 Cl-3형, Y7은 특징없는 물로 분류되었다. 강수(precipitation)와 온천수의 삼중수소 준위를 기초로 한 연대측정에서 position flow model에 의해 Y1은 -89년으로 가장 오래된 온천수며, Y7은 -2년으로 가장 최근의 물로 계산되었다. 또한 dispersive model에 의한 값에서도 Y1은 89년, Y7은 2년된 물로 계산되어 position flow model값과 거의 같은 결과를 얻었다.

The chemical characteristics and age dating of the thermal springwater developed recently in Chullabukdo were investigated. The temperature range of the thermal springwater was found 27∼29℃, indicating a low temperature thermal springwater. The concentration of F- ion in the springwater was found relatively high in the range of 2∼3 ppm, but NO3- ion was nearly not detected. The concentration range of SO42- ion was 0.02∼23 ppm, among which SO42- content of Y3 was found very high compared to that of other springwater, since this site is known as a sulfur spring. HCO3- ion content was found 2∼5 times higher than that of groundwater. Y1, Y3, Y5, Y2, Y4, and Y8, were classified as HCO3- type, Y6 as Cl- type, and Y7, as no domonant type by classification diagram for anion and cation facies. From the results of age dating on the basis of the mean tritium level of precipitation and thermal springs, Y1 was identified as the oldest thermal spring (-89 years) and Y7 was identified as -89 years and Y7 was -1 year using dispersive model. The results calculated by two models agreed well each other.
