Spectrophotometric Determination of Co (Ⅱ) with 7-Nitroso-8-Hydroxyquinoline-5-Sulfonate

7-Nitroso-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonate(NHQS)는 pH 4.5에서 Co(Ⅱ)와 안정한 적색 complex를 형성하므로 이것을 이용하여 NHQS에 의한 Co(Ⅱ)의 흡광광정량방법을 검사하였다. 흡광도는 528mμ, 25℃에서 측정하였다. Co(Ⅱ)의 농도 0.3∼6p.p.m에서 Beer의 법칙은 성립하며 complex의 분자흡광계수는 1.1 x 104이었다. 공존이온중 Fe(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ), Cu(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅰ), CN-, EDTA 등은 본정량에서 방해가 된다. Complex의 조성을 몰비법과 연속변화법으로 검사한 결과 NHQS와 Co(Ⅱ)의 몰비는3:1이었다.

Spectrophotometric method for the determination of Co(Ⅱ) is developed based on the fact that Co(Ⅱ) forms a stable red complex with 7-nitroso-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonate at pH 4. 5. The absorbance is measured at 528 mμ, 25℃. Beer's law is followed in the concentration range of 0. 3 to 6. 0 p.p.m. of Co(Ⅱ) and molar extinction coefficient of the complex was 1. 1 × 104. Of the diverse ions checked, Fe(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅲ), Cu(Ⅱ), Mn(Ⅱ), Hg(Ⅰ), CN-, EDTA interfere. The composition of the complex is found to be 3:1 ligand to metal species by mole ratio and continuous variation methods.
