Abstract	Red fluorescent organic nanopaticles (FONs) based on a diarylacrylonitrile derivative conjugated molecule were facilely prepared by surfactant modification. Such red FONs showed excellent water solubility and biocompatibility, making them promising for cell imaging applications.
