An efficient asymmetric synthesis of (+)-1-aminoalkyphosphonic acids is achieved by alkylation of Schiff base, prepared from diethylaminomethylphosphonate and (S)-(-)-2-hydroxypinan-3-one as a chiral reagent, and a new method of column chromatographic resolution of (±)-1-aminobenzylphosphonic acid via its Schiff base with (S)-(-)-2-hydroxypinan-3-one is described.
