Synthesis of Basic Alkali Metal Aluminium Carbonates

염기성탄산알루미늄 알칼리금속 화합물의 합성

알루민산나트륨과 알루민산칼륨 용액에 CP2가스 취입법에 의해 NaAlCO3(OH)2 (Dawsonite)와 KAlCO3(OH)2를 합성하였다. 이 반응은 80 ∼ 90℃에서 Na2O/Al2O3, K2O/Al2O3의 몰비가 각각 6 ∼ 8, 8 ∼ 10인 알루민산알칼리 용액중에 CO2가스를 취입하여 달성되었다. 알루민산알칼리 용액중에 HCO3-이 다량 존재하며 알루미나가 평형고상으로서 Boehmite로 존재할 때 고순도의 Dawsonate와 KAlCO3(OH)2가 생성된다는 것을 알았다. 이런 조건하에서 합성된 Dawsonite와 KAlCO3(OH)2의 시성식은 적외선흡수스펙트럼 분석결과 각각 NaAlO(OH)HCO3와 KAlO(OH)HCO3로 나타내는 것이 타당하다고 생각된다. 또 전자현미경관찰로부터 Dawsonite는 섬유상결정, KAlCO3(OH)2는 침상결정으로 되어 있다는 것을 알았다.

A method of synthesizing NaAlCO3(OH)2 (Dawsonite) and KAlCO3(OH)2, was investigated by blowing CO2 gas into sodium and potassium aluminate solutions. The reactions were accomplished at a temperature of 80 to 90℃, while CO2 gas was blowing into the solutions which the molar ratios of Na2O/Al2O3 and K2O/Al2O3 were 6 to 8 and 8 to 10, respectively. It was observed that highly purified Dawsonite and KAlCO3(OH)2 are produced when Alumina is present in Boehmite at an equilibrium solid phase with a large amount of HCO3- in the solutions. The rational formulas of Dawsonite and KAlCO3(OH)2 synthesized under the conditions should be expressed as NaAlO(OH)HCO3 and KAlO(OH)HCO3, respectively, by IR analysis. In addition, electron microscopic observation also indicated that Dawsonite in a fibrous crystal and KAlCO3, (OH)2 in a needleshaped crystal.
