Abstract	1-Alkoxymethylphosphonates 4 and 1-alkylthiomethylphosphonates 5 can be prepared by the reaction of actal derivatives and diethyl trimethylsilyl phosphite in the presence of Lewis acid under mild conditions. The dependency of the chemoselectivities with Lewis acid on the reaction of O,S-acetals with phosphites is described.
