Abstract	1-Methylimidazolium chlorochromate was prepared by the addition of 1-methylimidazole into a solution of chromic trioxide in 6M hydrochloric acid and obtained in high yield as bright yellow crystalline solids. The reagent was found to be very effective for the oxidation of alcohols and the oxidative cleavage of oximes to the corresponding carbonyl compounds.
